The maker carving a wax sculpture by hand in the Kandil Studio workshop

Meet the Maker

One pairof hands.

Every Kandil piece begins as a sketch, then a block of wax on the bench. The relief is carved slowly, the surface sanded warm, the wick set by eye so the sculpture keeps its form as it burns. Nothing is moulded twice the same way — each piece leaves the studio numbered, signed and quietly imperfect.
